There are some useful tips here for the beginner and also for the expert knitter. If you know more than the basics, have a look at my why knit and experts pages.
I’ve tried to keep the menu brief and self-explanatory, but here’s a quick rundown anyway:
Ÿ
Look at needles to understand sizes and convert old numbers to metric;
Ÿ
Go to yarns to read about thicknesses, discuss qualities and find out about tension;
Ÿ
The patterns page includes common abbreviations used in knitting patterns
Ÿ
Stitches discusses plain, purl, rib, stocking stitch. See stitch of the month.
Ÿ
Sizes includes guidance in knitting for babies and children
Ÿ
Why knit? offers advice on charity knitting, and knitting for sale
Ÿ
Experts   gives tips for experienced knitters
Ÿ
Oddments includes discussion and KNIT PIX!

WELCOME to just knitting - a home for knitaholics new and old!

My name is Susan and, although I’ve knitted on and off for donkey’s years, I took up my knitting needles again quite recently. I even try to sell the stuff I make to pay for my addiction! (see sister website www.jollyfineknits.com)
I’m also a fan of the internet, and I’ve spent many an hour trawling through websites trying to check out sizes, learn about knitting yarns/wools etc. However an hour at the computer is an hour away from knitting, because I’ve not yet perfected a way of doing both at once!
I feel there is a need to have a variety of useful knitting information quickly accessible in one place, so
just knitting is an attempt to offer just that!
just knitting a handy guide for all hand knitters!
